Information
Cesky Krumlov is a town in the South Bohemian region of the Czech Republic. Its historical center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992. Along with Prague, are the two most beautiful cities in the Czech Republic, although Cesky Krumlov is much smaller in size, looks like has sprung through a fairy tale.
With the Castle being the main attraction of the city and the Vltava River, which crosses the the city, the picturesque alleys and the beautiful houses that you can see in every corner, they make up the fairytale scenery that we are sure will enchant you like us! The Czech Crown is the currency of the Czech Republic and approximately 10 crowns (CZK) equals to 0,39 Euros. For the latest updated exchange rates visit the XE Currency Converter page.
What To See...
Cesky Krumlov
Cesky Krumlov is not the place that has too many attractions, but it is so beautiful and picturesque that you will be happy just to walk around the picturesque alleys around the river and the castle. From every point Cesky Krumlov looks different and from some specific points you can take stunning panoramic photos and admire the beauty of the city.
Castle Of Cesky Krumlov
The impressive castle of Cesky Krumlov stands over the city and offers tremendous views of it if you choose to climb up! The ticket costs just 100 crowns (4 Euros) without a guided tour and definitely worth a visit.
River Vltava
The Vltava River, which crosses almost all of the Czech Republic, passes through Cesky Krumlov and here you can do various activities like kayaking or see the whole city through the river! It’s definitely a unique and highly recommended experience!
Svornosti Square
It is the central square of the city and here you will find several hotels, restaurants and cafes. The beautiful buildings and the fountain in the center of the square will impress you!
Nearby Excursions
Cesky Krumlov is a beautiful place and is at a location that we say that there is nothing exciting nearby which you should not miss. An interesting option, though but not something special, is the town of České Budějovice which is a city of 95,000 inhabitants in the Czech Republic and is the largest city in the South Bohemian region and also the political and commercial capital of the region. The city is not something that will definitely change your travel life, especially if you have first seen the amazing Cesky Krumlov, but it is a very short getaway just 25 minutes away by car.
What To Eat
The Czech cuisine is not famous for being one of the most delicious in the world so we tried to move on safer food paths. Two restaurants made us a very good impression and we strongly recommend them to you. The first is the vegan restaurant Laibon right next to the river in a stunning location but also with great dishes. Even though we are not fans of the Vegan cuisine, we tried some excellent dishes that really impressed us!
The second is the Bolero restaurant exactly in the same location as the first restaurant, but this time on the opposite side of the river. Here you will find very tasty dishes from various cuisines as well as some traditional Czech dishes with main ingredients, meat and potatoes.
How to move
The best option to explore the city is on foot. The narrow streets in the old town make it impossible to drive a car as well as parking, so leave the car in a parking outside of the town or in your hotel and enjoy the city on foot, all the main attractions are within walking distance and you would not need any means of transport to see it all within a few hours.
Where to stay
Accommodation in Cesky Krumlov is a bit expensive for the Czech Republic standards, which is considered a quite cheap european destination. Although Cesky Krumlov is a very affordable city for most of us, as the prices for a double room in the city center start at around 40 euros and reach up to 80 for superior rooms with breakfast. You can do your research to see which one meet your standards. You can make your reservations via Booking.com
